The Grand Opening of the Biggest Casino on Earth
The biggest casino in the world has been opened Tuesday at Macao, Venice. The huge building is Macao Resort Hotel, and its proud owners are the American millionaire Sheldon Andelson and his wife Miriam.
The two proud owners inaugurated the casino breaking one bottle of fine sparkling campaign to a gondola which floats in one of the three inner channels built inside the Venetian Macao Resort Hotel.
The whole construction was estimated to a 2, 4 billion US dollars. According to Sheldon this investment should return in five years as hundreds of tourists are expected to visit the complex. The grand opening was impatiently expected by hundreds of tourist eager to see the biggest casino ever built. Andelson hopes that this grand monument will transform Macao into a tourist attraction to both players and visitors across the world and a luxurious destination for conferences and business meetings.
The hotel has 3000 rooms, a sports arena with 15.000 seating, a commercial area with 350 stores and 111.480 square meters of conference space. The parking place can host 3.400 cars, but in the future they would like to extend to a 6.000 cars capacity.
The inner decoration is inspired from Wien’s architecture but also has some Chinese influence. On the inner channels Chinese sampans are floating as well as Venetian gondolas and the beach is a true replica of Saint Marco’s Plaza from Venice.
Andelson also planes to open other hotels in Macao under the brands of Four Seasons, Sheraton and St. Regis. The estimated investments till 2010 in Macao are told to be around 12 billion of US dollars.
