Kentucky Legislation: The Next Turn
The recent Kentucky legislation faces more and more opponents, remind you that the new law will permit the Kentucky government to close all the domain names (and this is more than 141 internet gambling sites) of the online casinos working permanently or from time to time at the Kentucky market. The first who started to object to this decision were certainly online casinos and registrars of the domain names. Then the Kahnawake Gaming Commission (KGS) decided to organize the protest action and wrote the letter from the head of KGS to the Kentucky Governor Steve Besher. The Safe and Secure Internet Gambling Initiative (SSIGI) was the next who expressed its opinion and objected to such strict methods as the domain names seizing.
The Kentucky lawyers has announced that according to the law the state officials have had the right to confiscate illegal gambling equipment, but the representatives of the gambling industry disagree that the domain names can be classified as “gambling equipment”. Steve Besher, the Governor has also received a deprecative letter from the SSIGI, in which was written that the illegal online casinos were a great problem all over the world and in the USA, it had to be regulated and the existing situation had to be changed, but closing of the domain names was wrong decision.
The simple prohibition of the online gambling can’t be effective and can’t give necessary results, the proof is the failure of the US’s controversial UIGEA. The next week the courts will try to investigate this important problem.
