After some self-imposed target dates passed, it’s getting evident that the bill for online gambling regulation proposed by Barney Frank will wait longer for committee review.

Barney Frank says that his bill of regulating and licensing online gambling is sooner to be put aside till October. Some observers think the bill review will be delayed till the New Year.

Barney Frank is head of the House Financial Services Committee, so his first commitment is economic crisis. But Frank swears that he will not forget about the bill, and the current task of lawmakers is health care, and financial regulatory proposals.

Frank said the bill would be examined in the committee before Easter, after that the likely date was adjusted to around early July. The PPA arranged National Poker Week in order to call public attention to the bill. Thousands of poker players were invited to Washington in order to show legislators support for Frank’s bill.

When the World Series of Poker was in full blast, Frank gave to understand that the bill perhaps wouldn’t reach committee till September.

John Pappas, Poker Players Alliance head, said, “The feedback that we got was that it is unlikely that we’ll hold a hearing in September; but, the door isn’t closed on that.”

Pappas added that his group still hoped to advance the Reasonable Prudence in Regulation Act that is another Frank’s bill. This offer could push back an implementation of the UIGEA from the 1st December of this year to the 1st December of 2010.
